This weekend was beautiful (and marked my first sunburn of the year!)

I loved hangin' by the Lake and enjoying the sun-soaked city. Memorial Day weekend is right around the corner - kicking off a season of events in the city.

Looking to fill your calendars this summer? Here's some events that will be hosted around Cleveland during Memorial Day weekend:

May 23 - May 27: Blossom Time Festival - This festival features a bit of everything - live music, a 'road race' run, carnival rides, and even hot air balloon launches! This festival will take you a bit out of the city, but definitely makes the trip worthwhile.

May 24 - May 26: Taste of Summer - Get a taste of Cleveland while kicking off the season in The Flats. Bring your wallet and your appetite - the event has no admission fee, just pay for your food and drinks.

May 24 - May 27: Tremont Greek Fest - Opa! Head to Tremont to spend your Memorial Day Weekend with Greek food, dancing, and a healthy dose of culture. Stop in for lunch or dinner, or make an entire day of it!

May 24 - May 27: Berea's National Rib Cook-Off & Beer Fest - Bring your appetite for the fairgrounds for a finger-licking-good day! Admission starts at $5, but we all know that enjoying a full slab of fall-off-the-bone ribs is priceless.

May 25: Reggae Fest Cleveland - Rock the park with some of the city's top reggae bands, food trucks, and drinks. Tickets start at $15 for the Saturday night event.

May 26: Veterans Honor Run - Sport your red, white, and blue while supporting our nation's veterans during the 7th annual Veterans Honor run in Avon. Participants can choose to run one mile, a 5K, or a half-half marathon. Registration starts at $4 for kids. Veterans get half off their registration costs.

While the weekend's events may be fun, be sure to remember the true reason behind Memorial Day. Many of Cleveland's own have been lost while fighting for our country and the city features many events to honor that fight.

Cities with Memorial Day parades on Monday, May 27 include: Avon Lake (10 a.m.), Bay Village (8:45 a.m.), Bedford (10:15 a.m.), Brecksville (10:30 a.m.), Broadview Heights (9 a.m.), Brunswick (10 a.m.), Euclid (10 a.m.), Independence (9 a.m.), Mentor (9:30 a.m.), Shaker Heights (9 a.m.), Strongsville (11 a.m.), University Heights (11 a.m.), Westlake (10 a.m.)
