Local Bookshop Tours: Mac's Backs

Mac's Backs has been selling books in the Coventry neighborhood of Cleveland's east side for 30 years now.

With three floors of books for sale, it's easy to get lost amongst the eclectic titles, local art, and other unique finds. The store sells both used and new books ranging from classic collectibles to new releases.

Mac's Backs feels like the classic indie bookshop out of the movies. The main level is stacked floor to ceiling with books and bookish merchandise from tote bags to socks. Head to the basement to explore alcoves separated by topic including Black Studies, Women's Studies, Nature, and more. The top floor is a small sci-fi and fantasy hub full of used books looking for a new home.

Look up and, just past the string lights balancing over the bookshelves, you'll art from local artists for sale.

The store has such a cozy and homey vibe, it's easy for 10 minutes to turn into an hour... or two... of browsing.

The store is currently open to the public from Sunday - Friday from 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Not comfy going in store? No worries - they also offer curbside pick up and online ordering.

Local bookshop tours will cover Cleveland+ bookshops.
