Decorating on a Dime: Directory and Decor Ideas

Did you like my Decorating on a Dime post, but you're still not sure where to start? Like I said in my original blog post, I truly believe that being cheap is an art form - so it's not something that comes naturally to everyone. Like anything else, thrifting and exploring resale shops take practice.
The first few times I walked into a resale shop, I was intimidated. There's just SO MUCH STUFF. And, honestly, you have to work to see the potential in some of it.
Luckily, I had some help along the way (thanks, mom!). I grew up in a well decorated home with a mother who loved the chase of finding the next knick-knack for her shelf. She not only helped me develop my taste, but is my go-to shopping buddy for all my home decor shopping days.
There are so many incredible vintage and resale shops in the Cleveland area.
Here's some of my favorites - warning: you can easily spend a day in some of these shops!
A little key: shops with a purple icon are shops I know and love. Coral icons are shops I've heard of or that have great reviews, but I haven't yet been to. Green icons are thrift stores and only represent one location.
Resale shops not for you? Swap thrifting for craft show and flea markets. There are so many to choose from, though, it can be overwhelming. I've mapped out entire days driving across counties for markets and, for me, it's always worth it. I can't wait for the markets of 2019!
Berea Flea Market (February 2-3)
Cleveland Baazar Valentine (February 9)
Queen of Hearts Craft Show (February 9-10)
2019 Chagrin Falls Spring Avant-Garde Art & Craft Show (March 9-10)
2019 Rocky River Spring Avant-Garde Art & Craft Show (March 23-24)
“Freshly Picked” Vintage Market Days® Central Cleveland (May 3-5)
“Sweet Summertime” Vintage Market Days Akron Metro (June 21-23)
The Cleveland Flea is, of course, a favorite and is currently in planning for Season 7! Check their website and social media for updates on weekends.
I also scoured Facebook Marketplace for some amazing pieces that I (unfortunately) can't fit in my place... but that could make a great addition to yours!
